Poof! An Explanation of Our Existence
Jun 27th
In the world of secular science, evolution is king. You cannot watch a single program about life, and the cause of life, without being drenched in evolutionary dogma. And yet, at its core, evolution rests on one primary claim: somewhere, eons of time ago, where there was nothing came something – poof! The Christian is mocked for utilizing faith as his primary foundation for truth. The scientist is championed for the same faith in an event that if true can only be explained in the supernatural. Imagine for a moment a world that comes into being with men and women fully grown. A world like that cannot be explained outside of the existence of God. However, if you can reduce the world down to a process that occurs over billions of years, you have a chance of explaining away God. Still, that chance is dependent upon a point in time when everything popped into being out of nothing. There is no scientific foundation for such a hypothesis. It just simply has to be, or else you are left with God.
I am not a scientist. I am nothing really. And yet, I am not a fool. I am reasonably intelligent and at one time, I had almost bought into the evolutionary bag of tricks. However, one thing kept me from falling hook line and sinker. Sin. Deep down inside I knew that I was sinful. I knew that there was such a thing as right and wrong. And while I could not argue the basic tenants of science on evolution, what I did know is what we all know. There are things, acts of the human flesh, which despite our best efforts to argue otherwise, are simply wrong. It was those acts that brought me to my knees before a holy God. It may seem strange to say I walked away from evolution based on sin, but it is nonetheless true. As I placed my utter faith in Christ, as I threw myself at the feet of mercy, I also submitted to the One who claimed to be the truth. And if that One is the truth, then everything contrary is a lie. Thus, I was left with a dilemma: do I merge the two opposing views so as not to look silly, or do I place my full faith in Christ and follow where He leads? Clearly I chose the latter.
The point I am making is this: science makes a claim that is nothing more than intellectual hubris akin to the gambling addict seeking just one more turn of the cards. Common sense dictates that cells do not simply go poof! Where there was no life, there does not suddenly become life. Instead of buying the evolutionary lie, spend some time thinking about your own behavior. Are there not things in your life, thoughts and behaviors, which you would describe as sinful? Those acts are acts of rebellion against God. They are acts of a lawbreaker. Now, either your conscience is some evolutionary mishap, or your conscience is a signpost pointing you to God. Consider the possibility today and if you find your heart broken over how you have offended God, then repent and place your trust in Christ.

The Greatest Show on Earth?
Oct 16th
Richard Dawkins has a new book out, titled ‘The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution.” Of course, he is referring to evolution, which would more appropriately be titled, “The Greatest Hoax on Earth.” Anyway, if you are interested in a solid review of the book, check out Challies review of it here.

Dino Skin Supports Young Earth
Aug 1st
For all the effort to place dinosaurs millions of years ago in an evolutionary time-frame, the reality is that there is good reason to believe that the creation account of a young earth is actually the better fit. Consider the existence of skin and tissue of dinosaurs that has recently been discovered. Skin and tissue is not supposed to last as long as the millions of years that the evolutionary tale would require. For doubters, consider this article by ICR, ‘Mummified Dinosaur Skin Looks Young.’

Missing Link Found! I think…
May 19th
Sky News is reporting, “Scientists Unveil Missing Link In Evolution.” I guess I have to give up my faith now since evolution has once again been proven to be absolutely true — or has it? Feel free to peruse the latest example of evidence for evolution here; aparently, our missing link is a small monkey with a long tail. As for me, it turns out that there is no reason to abandon the faith after all. This is yet another example of scientist following an existing premise to its’ end conclusion. I can’t waint until the next major evolutionary break through…until then, pins and needles for me!

This Just In: ‘Scientists May Have Found How Life Began’
May 15th
Really?! Oh, how amused was I to click on Fox News on my iPod Touch to find out that scientists have discovered how life began. I say that tongue in cheek, of course, because it really is the same article that has been recycled about a billion times thus far. It always starts with some kind of primordial goop and always ends in man. In other words, nothing + nothing = everything. The article actually says, “British scientists said on Wednesday that they had figured out key steps in the process by which life on Earth may have emerged from a seething soup of simple chemicals…“ If you read the entire article found here, you will find that the article actually says nothing. All scientists have done is hypothesized that man might have come from RNA rather than DNA based on the existing premise that we must have come from “seething soup.” Nothing new, so carry on!

The Atheist’s Genesis
Mar 25th
In the beginning, nothing created the heavens and the earth. There was nothing and nothing created something by one enormous cosmic oops! At one moment there was nothing, and then suddenly, there came from that nothing, and caused by nothing, billions upon billions of stars, the material world, time, and amidst it all, within the tiniest portion of this new existence there began the foundations of earth. And yet, despite the grandest of odds, a world began to form itself by chance into existence. But wait! The grandest oops has yet to come. All that came before was mere gas and rocks; nothing to fret over. A cosmic accident to be sure, but easily forgettable if not for what comes next. Out of this calamity comes life from non-life. At one moment, there was nothing but primordial goop, but then a tiny cell goes poof and jumps out and says “look at me!“ And here we are, time and chance merging at the crossroads of evolution to create the beginnings of life, caused by nothing out of nothing for nothing. Oh, but this grand tale has just begun. Not only has all this come about out of absolutely nothing, but the stage is set for the coolest trick of all. This little-cell-that-could is now prepared to evolve into all that we now see — the natural world! From this one cell, we now have every living organism on this great accident we call earth. Enjoy nothing! Be consumed by nothing! Love nothing! Hate nothing! Believe in nothing! It is after all, the cause, the material by which we are made, and the motivation for our existence. Nothing.

‘Churches Wrestle to Bridge Creation, Evolution Gap’
Feb 14th
The above headline comes from The Christian Post –Read the full article here.
My response: Yikes! This is no surprise, but it just shows how far many of our churches are falling out of line with scripture. The article starts off, “After a lifetime in the church, the Rev. William L. Rhines Jr. lately has started to question one of the Bible’s fundamental teachings, that God created man.” The article is correct — this is one of the Bible’s most fundamental teachings. However, it goes much deeper than that. Many people want to remedy the alleged issue between science and the Bible by simply eliminating it and harmonizing them together. It doesn’t work!
First, so many of the subsequent writers of the Bible referenced the creation account. Why would they do so if it was merely poetic? This doesn’t make sense unless the account of creation in Genesis is true.
Second, the theology of the Bible is directly correlated to the creation account. If God merely used evolution to create us, then why does Romans tell us that death came into the world through sin? Why does so much of the theology involve a fallen man in need of a savior if we were never fallen — we were merely goop from the beginning? And finally, if we truly evolved, then it makes it rather strange that Christ would bother dying for us. The whole point is that we are all fallen through the sin of Adam, and that we needed someone to pay for our sins, someone to act as a substitute. If we remove the creation account, the entire context of the coming of Jesus is destroyed.
Third, the god that these revisionists believe in is not even a god worth believing in. Conversely, the Bible portrays a God in complete control of His creation; a God that in unimaginable power chose to create the universe by simply speaking it into existence. The god these theistic evolutionists believe in is a weak and meaningless God that contradicts himself at every step.
Finally, let me say this. I am no scientist, but it is not difficult to see the problems with evolution. It is not difficult to see that this is more science fiction than science. If we who call ourselves Christian merely took the time to think these issues through, we would restore our thinking rightfully to the Bible first. Instead, we are making our sacred scripture bow to a bunch of silly men whose stated purpose is to attack religion. We need to do more proclaiming the gospel and less worrying about what Richard Dawkins and his ilk are thinking.
